Powerhouse Operator

About the role

Marriott Hotels & Resorts is hiring a Powerhouse Operator in Shaviyani Atoll. The role covers responding to guest repair requests, performing preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, and carrying out basic repairs and housekeeping-related engineering tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Respond to and resolve guest repair requests and communicate with guests and customers about maintenance issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen and mechanical room equipment, including cleaning and lubrication, and visually inspect tools, equipment and machines.
• Identify, locate and operate shut-off valves and utility shut-offs, and maintain maintenance inventory and requisition parts and supplies.
• Communicate daily activities and problems to other shifts using approved communication programs and standards.
• Carry out surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repair, and replace light bulbs and A/C filters, then clean up the work area.
• Test, troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on equipment, plumbing (plunge toilets, unclogging drains), electrical components, lamps, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, switches and outlets, and other guestroom items.
• Program TVs, perform general housekeeping and engineering-related inventory duties, and use the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work.
• Repair interior and exterior landscaping and external sprinklers, and enter work information into computers such as air handler schedules and temperature settings.
• Follow company and safety policies, report hazards and accidents, complete safety training, store flammable materials safely, and treat guests courteously while protecting company assets.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Some experience in general maintenance, exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is a plus.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Driver's license.

Required skills

• Basic knowledge or ability to learn air conditioning and refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic systems, carpentry and finish skills, kitchen equipment, vehicles, energy conservation and general building.
• Basic computer skills, including inputting air handler schedules and changing temperatures.
